Larry Colton taught English at Adams for about 3 years in the early 70s. His claim to fame before Adams was pitching one game in the major leagues (for the Philadelphia Phillies); after Adams, he's pursued a writing career, contributing to Sports Illustrated and the New York Times Magazine, among others. He's also author of two books, including "Goat Brothers," a bestseller about his one life and his college frant brothers. His description of Adams, from page 394: "The school was the brainchild of seven Harvard doctoral students, and the most energetic and comprehensive attempt to establish an alternative high school in an urban setting in the United States."
